Description
- Manage capital team in following areas; Engineering completion, field execution of projects, overall team leadership
- Manage quality of completion of all AFE’s on site
- Whilst each department has to complete their own capital justifications, this role manages the quality of the product and works with the other departments heads to get to the right level of quality (otherwise Sustaining Capital Manager will not allow submission)
- Sustaining Capital team often assists with technical and other areas to assist the operation departments in completion of the AFE o Note getting quality into the AFE’s is essential to have compliance in AFE execution. Areas of focus in the AFE build are; Clear scope, Materials cost tenders completed in advance, Accurate cost assessment, Detailed execution Schedule, Defined project team, Defined KPI’s for both project execution as well as the delivery KPI’s that deliver what has justified the value in the change, Management of Change, Execution strategy, Project safety plan, Contractor management plan, Responsibility allocation, Reporting requirements, Map of meetings, Operations integration steps defined, Trainings, Planned maintenance strategies built and loaded, Spares to be put into stock and others to be catalogued
- Tracking status of all site AFE’s
- Some AFE’s are managed directly under the control of the Sustaining Capital team whilst most are managed within the operating departments (smaller items or large equipment purchases)
- This role tracks and manages all of the AFE’s against committed cost, time and quality. Part of doing this is completing the monthly capital meeting where all major projects status are presented against the metrics and the full list is presented in table format. At this meeting the Sustaining Capital Manager is holding the individual project leaders (many not in his department) and other department heads to account on project status for the General Manager
- Post Mortems on Major Projects
- For all major projects above a defined cost a simple post mortem to be completed on each outlining compliance to; Cost, Time, Quality (delivery of the KPI’s that justified the project) , Coordinated for project lead/department manager to present these to SLT
- Member of SLT (Site Leadership Team)
- Individual is an active member of the site leadership team and as such has to contribute to all aspects; Safety inspections in other departments, Site management meetings, Coverage for other leaders etc.
